What’s Your Favorite Wes Craven Movie?

I’m a huge Nightmare on Elm Street fanboy, but my absolute favorite film of his is The People Under the Stairs. So brutal, so weird, so my speed.

What’s your favorite Craven film and why?

Rest in peace, Wes Craven (1939-2015). You were one of my heroes.

  1. Classic Book Reading

A true shame. He was an icon. He had his hits and misses but he will always be remembered by me. I love his early visceral stuff. Last House and the Hills Have Eyes. People under the stairs is one of the greatest. “I got’em, I got’em got’em, got’em got’em”.

I have most of his movies. Didn’t he do one where if you read the book you went mad? The first Elm Street is my favorite. I was just watching the news. Such sad news.

    1. I could be wrong, but I think you’re talking about IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS. If that’s the one, it was John Carpenter who directed it. And I agree. Very sad news.

That’s the one. I had a feeling I was wrong. I did forget the Scream movies too. I really liked the first one.

  3. Agreed, his passing is very sad. Wes Craven was one of the best, and an inspiration to many of us. The Nightmare on Elm Street films are classic, you really can’t go wrong there. I don’t think I’ve seen any of his other work, though I would love to see them. Wait, I forgot about Scream. That one was okay. I have a question, and you guys can probably answer it: in the 2002 film, They, Craven is credited as “presenting” it, but Robert Harmon directed.

    1. It’s been several years since I saw it, and unfortunately my copy went missing a couple years back, but I really liked it a lot at the time. The alternate ending is KILLER, imo!
